A record search and a certified-copy order are different services. A search identifies whether a likely record exists and obtains ordering information. A certified or exemplified copy is issued by the official custodian and may require fees, identification, authorization, eligibility review and additional processing.

Marriage and Vital Records

Use the Correct Clark County Custodian and Record Format

Clark County marriage certificates and Southern Nevada vital records follow different order, eligibility and delivery procedures. The intended recipient should confirm the exact document required before the order is placed.

Certified Marriage Certificate

The Clark County Clerk states that marriage certificate copies are certified and available for marriages performed from 1909 to the present.

Official proof of marriage

Certificate Versus Abstract

A certified marriage certificate and certified abstract are different products. Immigration, church, adoption, foreign or other recipients may require the full certificate.

Verify recipient requirements first

Clark County Death Certificates

The Southern Nevada Health District maintains Clark County death certificates from 1988 to the present and accepts supported requests online, by mail or through office drop-off.

Record must be registered before production

Identity, Relationship and Legal Interest

Death-certificate applications require valid requester identification and may require proof of relationship or supporting legal documentation.

Incomplete applications are not processed

Vital records cannot be replaced by a notary-certified photocopy. Nevada notaries may not certify copies of vital records or publicly recorded documents when the official custodian can issue the copy. Order the certified record directly from the responsible government office.

Recorded Property, Assessor and Business Records

Public Searches Identify Records—but Do Not Replace Title, Authority or Due-Diligence Review

Clark County Recorder, Clark County Assessor and Nevada Secretary of State systems provide different information. Recorded deeds and certified business filings come from their official custodians; assessor and entity-search pages are informational public records.

Recorder Index Search

Search recorded documents by name, parcel number, instrument number, document type, date, value or legal-description information.

Useful for locating the instrument

Plain or Certified Recorded Copy

Clark County states that anyone may purchase an available copy of an official recorded document online, in person or by mail.

Select certification when required

Assessor Real Property Records

Search by parcel number, owner name, address, subdivision or map reference for available assessment information.

Assessor maps are not surveys

Business Entity Search

Use Nevada's official business search to identify the entity name, number, status, registered agent and available filed information.

Search result is not a certified certificate

Certified Business Filing

Order an available filed document with the Secretary of State's certification when the recipient requires a certified copy.

Identify the exact filing first

Certificate of Existence or Status

Coordinate the specific Secretary of State certificate requested by a bank, licensing authority, foreign jurisdiction or other recipient.

Certificate names and contents differ

Certified Records for International Use

Retrieve the Correct Certified Record Before Nevada Apostille Processing

The Nevada Secretary of State instructs requesters to obtain the certified Nevada record from the county, court or records office that maintains it. Apostille submissions require the original certified copy; photocopies of the certified record are rejected.

Confirm the Destination and Record

Verify the receiving country, authority, record type, date limitations, translation needs and whether the full certificate, abstract, certified copy or exemplified copy is required.

Recipient requirements control

Obtain the Custodian-Issued Certified Copy

Order the original certified marriage, court, recorded, business or other Nevada record from the government office that maintains it.

A photocopy is not sufficient

Submit for Apostille or Authentication

Prepare the current Nevada request, payment and original certified record for the applicable Secretary of State processing level.

Government processing choices affect timing

Track and Return the Completed Record

Package the apostilled record and arrange secure domestic or international tracked return according to the confirmed scope.

Translations and consular steps are separate

Review Required

Certified Record Retrieval and Apostille Packages

Combined retrieval and apostille requests are reviewed before acceptance because eligibility, certification type, record age, custodian, destination country, translation, processing speed and return shipping can change the required workflow.

Common Questions

Certified Record Search and Retrieval FAQs

These answers explain the administrative service scope. Current government forms, access rules, identification requirements, fees, processing methods and recipient requirements should always be verified with the official custodian.

What is the difference between a record search and certified record retrieval?

A search identifies a likely record, custodian and ordering information. Certified retrieval obtains the official copy issued and certified by the government office that maintains the record. A search result, screenshot or unofficial copy may not satisfy a recipient that requires certification.

Can Lake Mead Mobile Notary retrieve a certified Clark County marriage certificate?

Yes. Supported services include marriage-record research, order preparation, fee coordination, pickup or delivery and secure return. The requester should confirm whether the recipient requires the full certified marriage certificate or another marriage-record product.

Can you retrieve a Clark County death certificate?

For an eligible requester, Lake Mead Mobile Notary can coordinate the application, identification, proof of relationship or legal-interest documents, status tracking, pickup or delivery and secure return. The Southern Nevada Health District controls eligibility and release.

Can a notary certify a photocopy of a birth, death, marriage or recorded deed?

Not as a substitute for the official custodian's certified copy. Nevada notaries may not certify copies of vital records or publicly recorded documents when the custodian can issue the copy. The certified record must be ordered from the government office that maintains it.

Can you retrieve a certified deed or other Clark County recorded document?

Yes. Supported services include Recorder-index searches, plain or certified copy orders, pickup, scanning and tracked return. Anyone may order available public recorded documents, but the search and copy do not constitute a title examination or ownership opinion.

Can you retrieve a certified divorce decree or court record?

Yes, when the record is available and the requester is authorized to receive it. The correct court, division, case number, parties, document title and certification level must be identified. Sealed, confidential or restricted records may require additional authorization or a court order.

Can you retrieve a certified record and obtain a Nevada apostille?

Yes, for supported requests after review. The correct custodian-issued certified record must be obtained first. The Nevada Secretary of State requires the original certified copy for apostille processing and rejects photocopies. Destination-country, translation and return-shipping requirements are confirmed before acceptance.

How do I start a record retrieval request?

Submit the record type, legal names, relevant dates, case, entity, parcel or instrument identifiers, requested certification, intended use, eligibility or authorization documents, deadline and return destination through the document intake page. Lake Mead Mobile Notary will confirm scope, pricing and outside costs before work begins.
