Policy Overview

This policy applies to all Las Vegas Wedding Officiant ceremonies, including legal weddings, elopements, micro‑weddings, full ceremonies, vow renewals, and symbolic/commitment ceremonies in Las Vegas, Henderson, and surrounding areas.

What This Policy Covers

  • Booking retainers and payment deadlines
  • How rescheduling works (and when fees apply)
  • When cancellations receive refunds or credits
  • What happens with last‑minute changes or no‑shows
  • Our right to cancel in rare emergencies

By booking with Las Vegas Wedding Officiant, you agree to the terms outlined on this page. If anything is unclear, please reach out before submitting payment so we can clarify expectations.

1. Booking Retainer & Payments

50% Non‑Refundable Retainer

To reserve your date and time, a 50% non‑refundable retainer is required for all officiant services (including vow renewals and symbolic ceremonies).

This retainer covers holding a specific slot on our calendar and the pre‑ceremony work that begins immediately (intake review, communication, planning, and script preparation).

Remaining Balance Due

  • Elopements & micro‑weddings (0–25 guests): Remaining 50% is due 7 days before the ceremony.
  • Larger or more complex events (26+ guests, rehearsals, custom scripts): Remaining 50% is due 14 days before the ceremony.

Add‑Ons & Extras

Optional add‑ons (for example: rehearsal support, vow‑writing help, unity ritual setup, vow‑renewal certificate, rush support) can be:

  • Paid in full at booking, or
  • Added and paid up to 72 hours before your ceremony, after which they are locked in and non‑refundable.

Grace Period for Online Bookings

For ceremonies booked online at least 7 days in advance, you have a 24‑hour grace period after your initial booking to cancel for a full refund of monies paid, minus any non‑recoverable payment‑processing fees. After this window, the standard cancellation policy applies.

2. Rescheduling Your Ceremony

We understand that plans shift. Our goal is to be flexible while still protecting reserved time.

One Free Reschedule (With Notice)

You may reschedule once at no additional charge if:

  • You request the change at least 14 days before the ceremony, and
  • The new date/time is within 12 months, with the same couple and within our normal service area, subject to availability.

Additional or Late Reschedules (3–13 Days Before)

Any of the following are subject to a $50 reschedule fee:

  • More than one reschedule request, or
  • Reschedule requests made 3–13 days before the ceremony.

In these cases, all monies already paid are applied as a credit toward the new date. No cash refunds are issued.

Reschedules Within 72 Hours

Inside 72 Hours of Your Ceremony

A reschedule request made within 72 hours of your scheduled ceremony is treated the same as a late cancellation/no‑show. There is no automatic refund or credit, as this time is extremely difficult to re‑book.

Location Changes (Weather & Public‑Land Issues)

If your original location becomes unusable due to weather, park closures, or permit issues (for example, Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire), we will make a good‑faith effort to:

  • Relocate your ceremony to an alternate spot within our standard service area, and
  • Keep your officiant fee the same, subject to availability.

Any separate venue, permit, or park fees are the couple’s responsibility.

3. Cancellations & Refunds (Couple‑Initiated)

More Than 30 Days Before the Ceremony

  • Your 50% retainer remains non‑refundable.
  • Any additional payments (for example, if you paid the full balance early) may either be:
    • Refunded back to your original payment method, or
    • Converted into a credit toward a future date within 12 months (same couple), at your choice.

14–30 Days Before the Ceremony

  • No cash refunds.
  • 100% of what you have paid converts to a credit for a new date within 12 months (same couple), subject to availability.
  • One reschedule in this window may be made without an additional reschedule fee.

3–13 Days Before the Ceremony

  • No cash refunds.
  • 75% of payments convert to a credit toward a new date within 6–12 months (same couple).
  • 25% is retained as a late‑change fee to cover lost booking opportunities and preparation time.

Less Than 72 Hours Before / No‑Show

Inside 72 Hours or No‑Show

If you cancel within 72 hours, fail to appear, or arrive so late that the ceremony cannot reasonably proceed (for example, we must leave for another booking), all payments are non‑refundable and non‑creditable.

This structure closely mirrors common Las Vegas chapel and officiant policies while remaining more transparent and slightly more flexible than many large venues.

4. Our Right to Cancel & Day‑Of Timing

If We Must Cancel (Officiant‑Initiated)

In the rare event we must cancel due to illness, accident, or other serious emergency and cannot provide a qualified replacement officiant:

  • All monies paid for officiant services will be refunded in full to you within 7 business days.

If we determine that the ceremony cannot safely or legally proceed (for example, extreme intoxication, threatening behavior, missing required legal documents for a legal marriage), we may decline to perform the ceremony. In that case, fees follow the same timing rules described in the cancellation section above.

Arrival, Late Starts & Overtime

  • We aim to arrive 30–60 minutes before your ceremony start time, depending on location and complexity.
  • There is a 20‑minute grace period for normal delays (guest seating, finishing photos, quick timing shifts).

If the ceremony start is delayed more than 20 minutes:

  • We may shorten the ceremony content so it still fits within the booked time, or
  • If our schedule allows and you wish to keep the full plan, an overtime fee may apply and will be discussed before proceeding.

If extreme lateness would cause us to miss another couple’s ceremony or exceed venue/permit limits, we may have to end or significantly shorten the service with no refund.

5. Legal vs. Symbolic Ceremonies

This policy applies equally to:

  • Legal Nevada marriages (with a valid Nevada marriage license), and
  • Symbolic ceremonies and vow renewals (no license required).

Vow renewals and symbolic ceremonies are not legally binding, so no witnesses or license are required. The booking, reschedule, and cancellation terms remain the same because our time, travel, and preparation are identical.
